Two distributors talking. One said: “MLM is like a box of chocolates, you will never know what you'll get”. No, it wasn't Forrest Gump joining the MLM bandwagon. In hindsight, it would have been better if it was him. For it would have made a different impact than the inevitable confusion the words brought.

The other distributor said, “What's not to know? Sign up in multilevel marketing, sell the products, get other people to do the same and you're set!” But then, pyramiding was still unknown then. As an optimistic individual, it would never cross your mind that a company – offering the realization of your dreams - with its big offices, impressive business plans and distinguished looking staff would turn out to be a fraud. It is unimaginable that a registered business could literally bring you down to your knees moaning in utter pain and disbelief.

Pyramiding schemes uses, violates and cheats unsuspecting victims of its hard earned money.

That's only the tip of the iceberg as they say. Pouring your time, effort and utmost trust in a company that promised you endless opportunities, riches and success then finding out that all is a fallacy would require more than a few words to aptly describe the meaning and gravity of being in that situation. It's an intricate mesh, a process so grueling it would require physical and emotional stamina to see you throughout this fraudulence.

The inability to recognize signs of discrepancies early on lies in the fear of finding out that a mistake is made, a bad judgment. Members spend time picking the best MLM company that they thought suited them best, promoting to the hilt to families and friends who in turn placed their trust and money in, then with horns blaring and lights flashing they are faced with the awful truth. They’ve been scammed by scum.

Denial is undeniably the star of this process, the refusal to accept the truth. Precious time wasted convincing yourself and others that everything is well. Then, anger, for the betrayal and for the people who brought you these series of sinister events. Well, it is a series of psychological manifestations. The bottom line? You are unable to function as a person. Unable to put things into perspective. Unable to take a step forward and go after these scum bags.

You’re thinking it’s easier said than done. But think! You can grieve, accuse and fight with anyone coming within a ten meter radius. But things happen, for every downfall is salvation. So, instead of wasting your time relieving the pain, plotting your revenge and thinking of the should haves, you could take action!

In the earliest sign of fraud, seek help. There are government agencies and investigative bodies that can aid you in this. They can look deeper, faster and has more machinery than you can do alone.

Take the initiative. Lead others into taking action. A collective complaint (class suits) has better chance than isolated ones.

Seek legal advice and representation. Justice could take some time, cost a fortune and effort. Regardless of these factors, a case should be filed to ensure that proper actions would be taken.

Participate. Be ready to assist the authorities with whatever information you can give them.

Be firm. Others are bound to dissuade you from pursuing this chase. Emotions and fatigue will catch up and time will come when you'll want to stop, put everything down and walk away. Just remember, whatever the outcome is, you took a step forward paving the way to others, putting an end to a nightmare that would have reached more unsuspecting victims.
